The website reveals little about up-front fees, and, with no phone number or email address handy, one is hard put to get questions answered. Apparently, the basic publishing fee is $499, not bad except for the fact that the author receives few benefits beyond the most basic. One would think that, as Amazon’s baby, that wealthy monster would put some effort into making the publisher more author-friendly and competitive. But maybe they have too many larger fish to fry. Oh well.
